Financial Controller

The Financial Controller is responsible for the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The Financial Controller must also manage all members and duties within the finance team.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review the monthly internal management of financial statements
  • Ensure that complete and accurate month end working papers are maintained
  • Be the primary financial liaison with other department heads and personnel
  • Prepare and review the quarterly financial reports in preparation for board meetings and distribution of information to shareholders
  • Ensure that all staff are following appropriate policies and procedures and are always in compliance with revenue recognition guidelines
  • Key contact with external auditors and responsible for annual audit of financial statements
  • Assist the CFO in the development of finance policies & procedures and internal controls
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and analyze variances on a periodic basis

Qualifications:

  • CA designation required, minimum of 5 years high-tech software experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a managerial role
  • Strong accounting technical knowledge (Canada and U.S. GAAP)
  • Extensive knowledge of software revenue recognition rules and emerging standards
  • Good knowledge of software licensing and legal
  • Good knowledge of corporate governance issues
  • Experience with research and development tax return filings an asset
  • Past experience working in public company, including current regulatory landscape
  • Exceptional people and management skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
