Marketing Communications Manager
Under the direction of the Director of Marketing Programs & Communications, the Marketing Communications Manager will play a diverse role in the planning, development and execution of events and marketing communications activities to support our programs, partners and brand. The position is also responsible for negotiating with event, print and promotional suppliers and agencies. We are seeking a self-motivated individual who enjoys working independently and in a team environment. The successful candidate will have a marketing and communications background, including experience in trade show management and coordination.
Responsibilities:
- Research and execute effective and profitable event programs
- Contracts/interfaces directly with external suppliers and vendors
- Coordinate online events (webinars, virtual tradeshows, podcasts, etc.)
- Monitor expenses to ensure alignment with pre-approved budget
- Research and order promotional aids, prizes and giveaways
- Review and report regularly on event results
- Co-ordinate distribution of event communications
- Schedule event planning meetings with internal staff
- Create all Marketing POs and coordinate with Finance re: deposits, payment, etc.
- Liaise with printing and promotional suppliers on the ordering and distribution of materials at events
- Coordinate event logistics, including exhibit graphics, travel logistics, shipping, transportation, preparation of show briefing books, lead distribution and follow-up
- Manage internal events including all corporate events, team meetings and Lunch & Learns
- Assist with charity campaigns to increase public awareness
- Coordinate press releases for wire distribution
- Manage event content on the corporate intranet and external website
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 to 7 years progressive experience in marketing communications and event management
- Degree or diploma in a relevant program
- Event planning, management and coordination experience is mandatory
- International experience working with companies targeting foreign markets
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to deliver high-quality work to deadline
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience managing a broad range of supplier relationships (printers, special promotions vendors, newswire agencies)
- Strong negotiation skills
- Excellent project management and organizational skills
- Experience working with applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Adobe Distiller
